That 70’s Fashion

Androgynous hippie look, disco-infused party wears and chevron stripe dresses, yes, you guessed it right, we’re about to roll back to 70’s here! “The Fashion Decade”, as I like to call it, brought a high tide fashion revolution into the lives of American women who got influenced by the new styles and trends. Later, the whole clothing trend shifted towards depicting liberal and free-spirited women. And today if you like to trickle down to the mainstream 70’s fashion, get your hands on something glittery or polyester, which could be either skin-tight Spandex trousers or entirely flowery maxi dresses!

Let’s ride back to the 70’s for a while, shall we?

Bell Bottoms/Wide-Legged Flared Jeans!

You Cannot Beat the Craze for Bell-Bottoms Seen in 70’s

By the mid 70’s, Jane Birkin made every other female follow her fashion style by wearing bell bottoms, to the extent that at least a pair of flared jeans could be found in almost every teen’s drawer. Putting on those wide-legged flared denim jeans to college again, yes you’re surely going to bring that hippie look back but you cannot beat the craze for bell-bottoms seen in 70’s. Tube tops, rhinestone-studded shirts, ascots and crop tops, all go along well with bell bottoms.

Chevron Skirts/Dresses on the Go!

Wear Chevron Skirts with Platform Wedges

Thinking of wearing those ‘Inverted V’ skirts again this summer? Then don’t think twice, you will portray the best free-spirited style if you can pull off the chevron strip skirts that Missoni Brand introduced during the 70’s and which were promoted by Vogue. Their signature style incorporated vertically upward and horizontal stripes or the kaleidoscope zig-zags which even can be worn in the present era and can give a pretty cool look overall. Get these skirts; wear them with platform wedges and 70’s way out bangles.

Ascot Blouses

Ascot Blouses from 70s are Making a Come Back

Working girl, secretary blouses, crepe ascots and pussy cat blouses are the nicknames used for ascot blouses. These blouses gained extreme popularity in 70’s era and can be worn even today with wide-legged flared jeans and knee-length skirts. Ascot blouses were attributed to the working women of 70’s and right from those days this unique clothing can be brought back. If you are employed somewhere get those ascot blouses in plain, stripes and checks and add them to your wardrobe.

Country-Girl Style Prairie Dresses

Country-Girl Style Prairie Dresses

A blend of American Little House and European Medieval peasant dresses resulted in Prairie dresses that are still famous even after decades. The square neckline with ruffled laces at the upper body and same ruffles on the sleeves and at the end of the dress give it a pretty fine and simple look. Cut on the high waist line with beautiful floral and gingham prints during the summer of 2013. Knee-length or maxi style prairie dress? The choice is yours!

Rock n’ Roll with Disco Ball Glasses!

70’s Fashion is Incomplete without Disco Ball Glasses

Browline glasses went out in the 70’s and were replaced by disco ball glasses that completed the rock n’ roll look. All costumes representing the 70’s theme are incomplete without round shaped colored glasses. The disco ball glasses compliment the modern hippie, summer hippie, retro and the Beatles looks. With bangles, bands, and a bandana, you gotta wear those round hippie glasses.

With 21st century’s mainstream fashion, it would be hard to blend the 70’s punk, disco or flower child look everyday but yes, these quintessential styles can be followed every once in a while by shifting some of the elements.
