It’s something blue, it may be something borrowed at times, and it’s definitely something that’s a must-have. It’s any girl’s best friend – a pair of jeans!
The Evolution of Jeans
Did you know that the blue classics we so fondly wear originally came from miners? These guys needed something sturdy and long-lasting as they went about their business and with the motive of avoiding torn trousers, the jeans was born.
And then came the cowboy culture. Shooting bad guys, and riding horses wearing their macho looks and blue jeans, cowboys kindled the casual style appeal of jeans. Thereafter, the hippie era brought another turnaround in favor of jeans, and the bell-bottom and stone-washed styles were born during the 70s.
It wasn’t until the 80s that designers started creating their own styles and designs of jeans, and thus the designer culture in jeans commenced. Among the first designers to launch into this area was Calvin Klein, who launched his first jeans brand in 1981, with Brooke Shields modeling for his campaign.
And since then, we all know how the jeans have stuck around, evolving through times and trends, but always maintaining its status of a fashion staple.
