Choose Your Dress Wisely… It’s Prom Night!

Girls, don’t we all just love that big day at the end of our schools and colleges where we get to dress and dance our hearts out? Lovely memories, friends, dances, and of course, our prince charmings make the night so special for every girl. Need we even explain why it’s important to dress up REALLY well for prom night? Let’s dive in straight away into what you can wear to prom and come out looking oh-so-divine!

What Should I Wear to Prom

What Should I Wear To Prom?

Here are a few guidelines to help you decide what to wear for prom depending on the theme, your body type and of course your preferences.

  • Length:

Floor-grazing Gowns: Particularly graceful, especially for college students, floor-grazing gowns have something ethereal about them. They look very formal and therefore work best for proms with a formal theme.

Short Dresses: These are best when you are in a flirty, fun mood. In lace, satin or any other beautiful material, the lower skirt of short dresses is usually flared to give that cute, girly look. However, many short dresses are also shift dresses without the flare, and work well when you wish to have some easy movement with a hot, breathtaking look.

  • Neckline:

The Sweetheart Neckline: A favorite of the prom queens, this heart-shaped neckline is especially popular because it can work magical femininity into any outfit at all. So go for a sweetheart neckline if you wish to look oh-so-girly at the prom.

The Jewel Neckline: This one rests just above the collar bone, and is preferred by those who don’t wish to appear too risqué. These give off a very innocent look, and work best with pastel shades or lighter colors. But the heavy-chested should avoid these as it gathers too much fabric at the front.

The Boat Neckline: The collar bone-skimming neckline is another one from the not-too-risky club. And this also makes it a good choice for high school prom as it retains the youthful innocence, while also making a style statement by not being too plain.

  • Sleeves:

Cap Sleeves or Sleeveless: Very short sleeves that cover just the upper arm, cap sleeves are a must if you’ve got beautiful, well-toned arms that you really wish to flaunt off. Sleeveless dresses work for slender arms for the same reason.

Strapless or Spaghetti Straps: Got lovely, well-shaped shoulders and a long, slender neck that you want every girl to get jealous of? Then choosing a strapless dress or one with spaghetti straps that shows off the right angles and shapes.

Full Sleeves: Chopping off the sleeves may seem like a great option, but the elegance of full sleeves should never be underestimated. These especially work if you’ve got fuller arms, but ensure that your sleeves fit your arms well, perhaps, with the help of a seamstress.

Add on flowers, gorgeous make-up, some dainty high heels and stylish jewelry to your ensemble to complete the look that will make him weak in the knees! And remember: no matter which dress you go for, you have to feel awesome in it. So whatever anyone says about what you should wear to prom or not, keep trying and experimenting with different looks until you find the one that you like the most. After all, a happy you is a beautiful you!
